In a week of demonstrations attended by delegates from across the surveillance, defence, and ATM industries, Aveillant exhibited its Holographic Radar technology out to a range of 40NM, tracking aircraft in true 3D and real-time.

David Crisp, CEO of Aveillant, comments:

“We are delighted to be able to share with the rest of the market what we have been working so hard on – the first truly innovative step in the development of Primary Surveillance Radars for decades.

The unique benefits of our Holographic Radar technology are now available at PSR scale: real time tracking, non-cooperative 3D data and target characterization, free from all clutter and highly spectrum efficient. We are certain this is the future of air surveillance.”

In addition to the performance of the radar, visitors were impressed with the speed of development and deployment. From initial concept, through design, construction and deployment, the project took 100 days, with only three days required to calibrate and optimize the hardware once assembled.

“We did anticipate some surprise at how quickly we were able to prove the 40NM technology - it’s not the usual development timescale for the surveillance industry. But the unique nature of Aveillant’s technology means that upscaling the product, or developing and deploying new capabilities is comparatively straight forward. Our hardware is modular and well-proven, and the algorithms and computing that make Holographic Radar possible are naturally scalable.”

The 40NM demonstration follows recent successful CAA trials of Aveillant’s drone tracking capability, in which Aveillant was able to detect and track drones with an RCS as low as 0.01m2 out to a range of over 4NM.

We are confident in our belief that we are building the world’s most capable, flexible, and future-proof surveillance offering.

A small selection of comments on the 40NM demonstration:

“A successful demonstration of a 40NM+ radar that looks close to being a dominant market leader” – Mark Chambers, Airfield Technical Manager, Manchester Airports Group

“Amazing technology - rapidly disruptive and amazing product development – revolutionary.” - Maurice Dixon, RAF/MoD [(retired)]

“This is a paradigm shifting technology, and as such I congratulate Aveillant for pursuing it. The silver bullet seems to be almost with us. Well done!” - Anne Mackenzie, Aviation Manager, Scottish Power Renewables
