Aveillant is proud to have been announced as a finalist in the innovation award category at the global IHS Jane’s ATC Awards 2015.  The innovation category recognises small enterprises that have made a significant rise in ATM performance.

An independent panel of experts have narrowed down more than 40 entries across six categories.  The winners of each category will be announced at the awards ceremony held on 9th March at the CANSO ATM Dinner in Madrid

Aveillant has been chosen for its innovative 3D Holographic Radar™ – a technology that is focused on understanding exactly what Air Traffic Managers see.  Traditional surveillance technology has been developed to detect objects, but Holographic Radar™ intelligently characterises targets, as opposed to just detecting them.  This approach represents a significant breakthrough in radar technology.  The radar provides a constant view of airspace at all times, removing unwanted ‘clutter’. The radar also uses the ‘L band’ frequency instead of the highly congested ‘S band’ frequency, used by the majority of civil and military airport radars and, more recently, much coveted for use by mobile broadband.

Rob Abbott, Aviation Director at Aveillant, comments: “Recognition of this type indicates the strides Aveillant has made in a short space of time in developing a ground-breaking surveillance sensor, which is truly future proof and delivers the levels of performance long sought after by the industry.”
